According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2004 population estimates, Delaware County's population of 142,503 made it the fastest growing county in Ohio, and the 11th fastest growing in the U.S. from 2000 to 2004. The Census Bureau estimates its 2007 population to be 160,865. Its county seat is the City of Delaware, and both are named after the Delaware (Lenape) tribe.
