Accounting (Associate Degree)
Accounting is often called the language of business and is essential to the successful operation of any company. Changes in tax laws, new government regulations, and the increasing complexity of industry place increasingly greater responsibility on accounting personnel. This program provides students with the skills needed to perform business and accounting functions for managerial decision-making situations. Accountants are vital to the growth and expansion of business, and an accounting career affords interesting and important work with numerous opportunities for advancement. Students majoring in accounting will also be equipped with a broad background in computers, social sciences and communication. Graduates from this program find opportunities in businesses, organizations, and firms that use and apply accounting principles and procedures.
Business Administration (Associate Degree)
As the world of business grows and transforms, the modern office professional must possess strong business skills as well as insightful understanding of human behavior to be able to supervise a diverse number of employees. He or she must also be able to reason logically and execute sound judgment. This management and organization expertise is one of the most important aspects of the total development and operation of any business. The business administration degree offers a well-rounded business education, including a strong background in communication, psychology, social studies, accounting, law, and computer applications. Graduates of this program may apply their educational preparation to many areas of business, including employment in the following areas: banking, human resource management, retailing, and administrative positions in offices of small or large corporations. Dental Assisting (Diploma Program)
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: The Dental Assisting Diploma Program is designed to provide the dental profession with well-educated, highly-skilled chair side assistants. The primary function of the dental assistant is to assist the dentist at chair side in all phases and procedures of dental operations and treatment. The curriculum includes clinical instruction in dental assisting with chair side and laboratory procedures, adjunctive patient care infection control, and dental office management, infection control, and patient education. To prepare well rounded students for the dental office, this program includes administrative duties for the front office including: billing and insurance, telephone techniques, proper communication, and dental law and ethics. With the clinical skills obtained, students will be well equipped for a variety of dental settings such as private dental offices, hospital dental departments, state and local public health departments, and dental insurance offices.
Finance (Associate Degree)
The finance degree provides students with a working understanding of the financial decision-making process, how financial markets function, and the acquisition and management of capital. These finance courses provide students the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in entry-level and management training positions. These positions may be in finance departments of corporations, government agencies, and departments of banks, savings and loans, mortgage companies, and insurance companies. Earning a finance degree at OBC can lead you to a career in one of the following positions: loan processor, loan officer, mortgage banking, credit analyst, insurance analyst, financial planner, collections manager, and financial analyst.

IT Computer Support (Associate Degree)
The Associate Degree in Applied Science in Information Technology Computer Support program is designed for students to obtain Server+ Certification, Network + Certification, A+ Certification, CCNA (Cisco Certified Networking Associate) Certification, and Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications. This program will equip graduates with the necessary skills to provide technical assistance, support, and advice to customers and other users on hardware, software, and computer systems. Graduates will have the skills necessary to design, install, and support an organization?s local area network, wide area network, internet or intranet system, as well as administration, maintenance, and support of network servers. With this degree and certifications, graduates will be able to provide day-to-day onsite administrative support for software users in a variety of work environments, including professional offices, small businesses, and government.
IT in Applications (Associate Degree)
With the explosive growth in the computer industry, the need for skilled specialists trained in microcomputer systems is on the rise. This curriculum develops skills and understanding in computer system hardware and software configuration and computer troubleshooting, upgrading, and repairing. The emphasis is on expertise in software applications and excellent decision-making and interpersonal skills. Students not only will become proficient in various types of software applications such as database, spreadsheet, word processing, and desktop publishing, but also will be able to provide support to others in the use of these applications. Legal Assistant (Associate Degree)
The legal assistant training program offered at OBC prepares students for interesting and exciting positions in the legal field. This curriculum offers a broad range of courses and makes available numerous challenging career choices. The legal assistant courses include specialized subjects such as legal terminology, legal writing, legal office procedures, and law and ethics that are designed to give students a working knowledge of procedures specific to the law offices. Student responsibilities will range from front office work such as appointment setting, telephone triage, insurance billing and coding, transcribing physician notes - to back office tasks such as assisting in vital signs, EKG's, minor office surgery, phlebotomy, and other duties associated with assisting medical professionals in procedures done in a physician's office. Students with a medical assistant major will also be equipped with a broad background in computers, organization, and communication. Medical Assisting majors participate in externships in their final quarter of study that provide an opportunity to gain experience working in their field under the combined supervision and evaluation of both a cooperating local medical facility and Ohio Institute of Health Careers. Career opportunities for successful graduates in the Medical Assisting diploma program exist as entry-level Medical Assistant, Clinical Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Medical Insurance Biller.
Medical Office Specialist (Diploma Program)
The health care industry is constantly changing with new technology and procedures. Students will explore medical terminology and medical transcription as well as medical insurance coding and the billing process using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT). They will become familiar with a variety of medical reports, health forms, and billing procedures and will be able to process health claims. They will also be able to interpret insurance contracts and understand the legal ramifications of specific actions. Students will also learn how to use computerized medical office software in addition to transcription and word processing. Graduates of this program will be qualified for positions in private and public business institutions and organizations that promote, use or apply medical practices, procedures, and other health related matters.
Office Support Specialist (Diploma Program)
This diploma program offers students the basic business skills and background considered necessary for employment in administrative office positions. Students are introduced to accounting and math concepts as well as a variety of computer applications classes. Graduates of this program will qualify for positions such as receptionist, word processing specialist, or administrative assistant.
