The objective of the Computerized Business Management program is to prepare students for a variety of entry?level careers in computer applications use, web page design, sales support, small business eCommerce, business presentation projects, office automation, office technology and administrative support fields. Employment opportunities include microcomputer support specialist, web page designer, user support representative, technical software support, word processing operator, data entry clerk and administrative support staff. Employment opportunities exist with companies engaged in Internet/Web technologies, word processing, spreadsheet applications, data entry, database development and desktop publishing. Students will be exposed to the full suite of Microsoft? Office software products and the use of these programs for enhanced efficiency in today?s work environment.

The objective of the Electrician program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for entry-level positions as Electricians. This program provides instruction in the basic fundamentals of electricity and its practical applications; instructs students in direct current and alternating current circuitry; residential, commercial and industrial wiring, along with specialized areas such as motors and motor control circuits, transformer installations, and services requirements; and provides instruction of the National Electrical Code and its application to safe electrical installations. Students may use their skills in entry-level positions as electricians on new construction projects, on additions for restoration sites, or in commercial or industrial maintenance positions. Graduates of the program may utilize their skills to find entry-level employment as electricians in various companies to include: building construction and design; general building construction; commercial and residential construction; construction equipment and supply; hobby and model construction supplies; lake and pond maintenance; paving contractors and construction; and swimming pool contractors.

This program will assist in preparing students for the Certified Electronics Technician (CET) exam. Also included are courses to assist students in preparing for the two examinations required for certification by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) as computer service technicians. The A+ certification examination consists of two test modules: (1) the Core Hardware Service Technician examination and (2) the Operating System Technologies examination. The examinations measure essential competencies for microcomputer hardware service technicians.

This will be achieved through discussion, lectures, and extensive hands-on laboratory experience with actual HVAC equipment. The following hand tools and instrumentation are used in this program: copper pipe assembly using tubing benders; brazing/soldering torches; leak-testing; evacuating/charging with temperature and pressure methods; refrigeration recovery equipment; testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical/mechanical problems; window and central air conditioning systems; heat pumps; warm air gas and oil-fired furnaces; CO2 efficiency tests; electronic air filters; humidification and dehumidification; and the study of psychometrics and hydronic gas-fired systems. Preparation for the EPA Refrigeration certification exam and the exam are included

The objective of the Medical Assistant program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for entry-level positions as Medical Assistants. The computer technology and word processing facets of the curriculum enhance the student's potential for placement. Prior to graduation, students are required to complete a 160-hour externship program at a local clinic, physician's office, hospital, HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) or other allied health facility. This program will assist in preparing students for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam sponsored by American Medical Technologists. In some cases, field experience may be necessary to be eligible to take or to successfully pass the exams. Graduates of this program may perform tasks assigned or delegated by a supervising physician, such as administering injections, vital signs and EKGs; assisting in minor surgical procedures; basic accounting procedures; and fundamentals of charting and documentation. Graduates may also perform venipuncture in a medical situation.

The objective of the Pharmacy Technician program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for entry-level positions in the pharmacy field or a related area. Graduates of this program work directly under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. General duties may include transcribing physician's orders and hospital charts; drug product selection; preparing medications for dispensing, labeling and refill authorization; computer data entry for patient profile maintenance; and procedures for acquiring all necessary information. They also assist in quality management procedures and security measures. Other duties may include preparing unit dose medications, IV admixtures and sterile irrigations. Prior to graduation, students are required to complete a 160-hour externship at a local retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, residential pharmacy or other pharmaceutical facility.

This will be achieved through discussion, lectures and extensive hands-on laboratory experience with actual RHAC equipment.
