The Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions was founded in 1891 and was incorporated at Lewiston, Maine, on January 29, 1977, as a non-sectarian, private educational institution, offering to qualified men and women a curriculum at the Associate Degree level, and is committed to:
enhancing the quality of life in the region;
providing opportunities for individuals to obtain their post-secondary education in a most effective and efficient manner;
expanding individuals' intellectual skills; kindling an ongoing desire to learn; strengthening their capacity to reason; and making responsible decisions relating to current issues in a rapidly changing healthcare environment;
preparing individuals to graduate with the competencies expected of nurses with an Associate Degree which enables them to take the registered nurse licensing examination.

Fundamentals of nursing practice are taught through theory, skills and experience. The nursing process is introduced as the organizing framework for the delivery of care. The student is introduced to the concepts of assessment, communication, professional behavior and meeting the needs of patients across the lifespan.

The Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions is located in Lewiston, Maine, the second largest city in the State. The School is in a metropolitan district close to large shopping areas, theaters, public libraries, colleges, churches, and a lighted ski area. Thirty (30) miles to the southeast are the beautiful beaches of the coast of Maine. To the northwest are the White Mountains with their famous skiing and hiking facilities.
