Kendall College is a fully accredited for-profit college in Chicago, Illinois that offers degree programs in culinary arts, hotel management, hospitality management and education. In addition to its School of Culinary Arts, for which Kendall College is most well known for, the college includes the Les Roches School of Hospitality Management, as well as the Kendall School of Business and the Kendall School of Early Childhood Education. The Riverworks Campus is located at 900 N. North Branch St., on Goose Island, just north of W. Chicago Ave. and east of Halsted St. The college also offers most courses in an online format. For the past two years, Kendall has hosted the Chicago Wine and Food Festival, in addition to other events. Originally opened in Evanston, Illinois in 1934, Kendall College moved to its present campus in Chicago in January 2004. In taking out a loan from Laureate Education before the move, the trustees of Kendall College agreed to extend an option to Laureate Education to acquire the campus at a later date with the stipulation that Laureate forgive the loan and assume the mortgage for the new campus. This option was exercised on July 16, 2008, when Laureate Education formally announced the acquisition of Kendall College, thereby making the college a for-profit institution.
