Aesthetics Skincare - Diploma (Diploma Program)
The Aesthetics Skincare program provides students training in the traditional holistic approach to skin care and includes additional training in the areas of make up and color analysis, mask and spa therapies, hair removal, enzyme treatments, pressure points massage, body wrapping, Microdermabrasion and hot stone treatments. Students are introduced to medical pharmaceutical product protocols and will learn the principles of effective retailing and general business development as it relates to the practice of the skincare professional. Graduates from the program will demonstrate a basic and advanced understanding of the structure and function of the skin and how to apply skin care treatments through the effective utilization of product and equipment protocols. The Aesthetics Skincare Program prepares students for registration in the state of Florida as a registered facial specialist and certification in body wrapping. The registered graduate is qualified for entry-level employment as a registered facial specialist with training critical for employment opportunities in resort spas and medical facilities. The graduate can demonstrate communication and employability skills and can apply professional and appropriate ethics to all areas of the job.
Business Management - AS Degree Distance Education (Associate Degree)
The Associate of Science program in Business Management prepares students for academically and professionally for entry-level business management, supervision, or administrative positions in business, industry, and government. Graduates are prepared for positions in business as assistant managers, assistant supervisors and other entry-level administrative positions in a business environment. The curriculum provides a broad knowledge of the functional area of business and is designed to offer a balance of theory and application that will prove useful in the field. The program will prepare the student to work in any business where developing and managing employees and dealing directly with customers is critical to the success of the business. The graduate can demonstrate communication and employable skills and can apply appropriate business to all areas of the job.
Criminal Justice / Home Land Security - AS Degree Distance Education (Associate Degree)
The Criminal Justice /Home Land Security program prepares students academically and professionally for entry level positions in the criminal justice field as correction officers, law enforcement officers, probation officers, private security personnel and parole officers. Employment with certain law enforcement agencies may require separate certification through a basic police training academy. The curriculum is designed to provide an education that is practical and relevant to the existing and emerging careers in the criminal justice field. This series of online courses is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in traditional criminal justice, focusing on such vital topics as criminal law, investigation and the American court system. Students are exposed to issues in homeland security and terrorism computer based crime and multiculturalism in law enforcement. The graduate can demonstrate communication and employability skills and can apply appropriate business ethics to all areas of the job.
Entrepreneurship - AS Degree Distance Education (Associate Degree)
The Associate of Science Degree in Entrepreneurship prepares students academically and professionally for an entry-level career as a small business owner. Successful graduates will be prepared for to create their own start ups as well as make successful and valuable contributions to on going small business ventures as managers, supervisors or coordinators. Students will also be able to work within a corporate environment as entrepreneurs on new enterprises within existing corporations. The successful graduate will have a valuable level of business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit, financial skills, marketing proficiency and interpersonal abilities. The Curriculum provides a broad knowledge of the functional area of business and is designed to offer balance of theory and application that will prove useful in the field. Knowledge and practical tools can reduce the risked associated with starting a new business and entrepreneurship program helps students gain solid foundation in core competencies of the entrepreneurial ventures. Particular attention is paid to providing managerial skills that are important for the successful growth of a new venture. Entrepreneurs will become aware of legal issues, financing difficulties, and organizational issues faced when developing a business. The graduate can demonstrate communication and employability skills and can apply appropriate business ethics to all areas of the job.
Health Information Technology (Medical Coding) - AS Degree (Associate Degree)
Students are prepared to apply for entry-level employment as Medical Information Coders, Medical Insurance Specialists, Medical Information Specialists, Medical Administrative Assistants, Medical Insurance processors, and other Medical administrative positions. Students are trained to professionally perform office clerical/administrative duties, use coding systems to classify medical data, use computer based medical management software and industry wide recognized word processing software, work with third-party payers, use uniform billing practices, abstract data and code both concurrently and retrospectively with the patients care. On the job observation and training is gained through a 120-hour externship. Graduates are prepared to sit for the Certified Procedural Coder Certification exam offered by the American Academy of Procedural Coders. With a passing score on the exam, a student is awarded a Certified Procedural Coder Apprenticeship Certificate. Associate of Science Degree participants take general and related education courses. Completion of these courses allows the graduate to apply advanced decision-making, communications, and management skills in various capacities as a Health Information Technology graduate. The graduate can demonstrate various employability skills and can apply appropriate medical ethics to all areas of the job.
Medical Administrative Assistant - AS Degree Distance Education (Associate Degree)
Students are prepared to apply for entry-level employment as Medical Administrative Assistants and other clerical and administrative positions relating to the operations of the medical office. Students are trained to professionally perform office clerical/administrative duties, understand and process medical insurance forms, utilize word processing, spreadsheet and database management computer applications, and apply effective customer service skills in the daily operations of the medical office. Students take general and related education courses. Completion of these courses allows the graduate to apply advanced decision-making, communications, and management skills in various capacities as a Medical Administrative Assistant graduate. The graduate can demonstrate various employability skills and can apply appropriate medical ethics to all areas of the job.
Medical Assisting - AS Degree (Associate Degree)
The Medical Assistant, a vital member of the health care team, is expected to perform clinical and administrative duties in a medical office. At Central Florida College, theory and practical training prepare the program graduate to apply for entry-level medical assistant positions. The medical assistant is trained to carry out clinical procedures such as vital signs, routine office-lab procedures, basic office diagnostic procedures, EKG, preparing the patient for physical exams and assisting the physician with those exams and to apply health-illness-health concepts. The medical assistant may help the physician with minor surgical procedures and can use proper aseptic techniques. The medical assistant can demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical procedures, medication administration, medical terminology, and familiarity with applicable OSHA regulations. Pharmacy Technology - AS Degree (Associate Degree)
The pharmacy technology program provides the student with an opportunity to develop the technical ability, knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment in any number of healthcare facilities and retail establishments as a Pharmacy Technician. The student participates in classroom lecture, intense training in a mock lab setting, and transition to a pharmacy in local healthcare facilities or retail establishments. Graduates may find employment in hospitals, nursing care facilities, retail and wholesale pharmacies, drug manufactures, and health maintenance organizations. The graduate can demonstrate communication and employability skills and can apply appropriate medical ethics to all areas of the job.
